last night at barbes in brooklyn i saw holden, a great band from france. they have pretty music, which you can hear here.

last night: lessons in taxidermy

last night i spent almost four hours sitting in the front row of the fourth (somewhat) annual taxidermy showdown. part of the science sessions at the bell house and union hall, this event was amazing. the first photo is of the winner's fighting / dancing cats. his taxidermied wonder beat-out over 40 challengers - ranging from albino mice escaping a lab to one fella's two-headed baby that he made from his own skin. shit.you.not. will try and find some video of the event and links, but all-in-all: WOWZERS. lunch: chiles & chocolates

finding great mexican is a feat in new york. though there are some great spots for this and that, there are no mission-esque taquerias within a 20min bike ride - and they still leave a lot to be desired. BUT, a few blocks from our house we have chiles & chocolates and they make delightful fish tacos, which inspired this kodak moment. (on 7th ave and sterlingish for you bklyn kids)

golden jonah and kissing facial hair

jonah inspires kissing and cuddling. this is true and known throughout the universe. it was a delight to see and kiss his scruff on my birthday - the photos are distorted through camera bag, a rad iphoto app. (check jonah's blog groinstrong, which chronicles his fantastic journeys and how he is kicking melanoma's ass.)

birthday pie

pie is better than cake. shit, pie is nearly better than mango waffles...at times, it takes the cake - the pie - the waffle? anywho, niki got the most amazing pies for the bday picnic from ladybird bakery. jamrock.

pink thunder clouds are awesome

niki and i got my bikes and rambled through brooklyn - finding the most amazing graffiti and a thrift store that made me weep.

mission: coney island seahorse

mission: go to coney island and find our (super fantastic) trash can, pet the seahorse and listen for twelve seconds. once accomplished, you will know where the secret goblet is...

ps1 - unicorns and awesome lights

this massive unicorn had super long hair that was combed by 17 children that auditioned for the 'my little pony and me' commercial...
