DC for Pledge2Protect

went down to dc for the latest campaign i've been working on (read my post on how amazing youth have ushered-in a new era of video advocacy and are pressuring congress to create comprehensive legislation to prevent genocide and mass atrocities).

dc is pretty.

Mustache is gone, but coming back for the kiddos!

it's the annual shave and grow for the kiddos!

for the four weeks i'll be growing my mustache strong, i'll be inviting you to support schools and teachers in need at home here in Brooklyn and back in my homeland of Kansas (projects at my high school and Davis' mom's school!).

The needs range from calculators and math books to African drums and materials for costume and puppet creation. Please donate what you can to help these kids and our overworked teachers - every $ goes a long way!

Do it for the kiddos! Go on, get to it and make a difference->

my mom is having surgery today - please send her some love!

howdy.  i hope this finds you doing grand.

many of you have met my exceptional mom and i knew you would want to know that she is having surgery today - at 11am.  we're just now about to head to the hospital and i wanted to send a quick note with two requests:

1) please keep my mom in your thoughts today and send her oodles of love and well-wishes and all such thoughtful, glorious things

2) please send an email to my mom for when she gets out of the fog - cathyroach1@gmail.com  my mom has grown to love email (and her mac products), so i'm sure that she would be incredibly touched and moved if she were to hear from you via the keypad - feel free to toss-in recipes that you think i should cook her or try your latest joke on her to see if you can get her adorable giggle.
